Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Communications Officer with the National Health Insurance Secretariat.

POSITION TITLE: Communications Officer                             


UNIT: NHI Secretariat


Reporting to the Project Head of the Secretariat, the Communication Officer is generally accountable for executing the communication strategy developed for the unit towards the implementation of National Health Insurance.

Specific Accountabilities

1)     Developing an effective communication strategy that will advance the work done on National Health Insurance through the Secretariat.

2)     Plan, organise and facilitate Stakeholder Consultations and public forums leading up to the Implementation of NHI.

3)     Ensure that the website, and other social media sites, developed for NHI is updated and current at all times.

4)     Prepare brochures, pamphlets, booklets and other reading materials for disseminating to the general public.

5)     Assist with the establishment of a brand identity for the NHI

6)     Maintain a database of frequently asked questions with the corresponding answers for effective use. 

7)     Develop and produce materials for the media outlets (print, television, radio etc) as required.

8)     Prepare press releases and other information materials to dissemination to the press as required.

Education and Experience

Minimum Acceptable Academic/Technical/Professional Qualifications

·        Bachelor of Science Degree in Communication or related field

Minimum Number of Years of Relevant Experience

·        Five (5) years’ experience in a related function

Specific Skills/Experience and/or Knowledge

·        Excellent Communication Skills

·        Excellent Computer Skills

·        Good Interpersonal Skills

·        Good Social Media Skills

Compensation package

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The NIS wishes to inform the public that the Drop-off box is located on the ground floor of the new NIS office close to the main entrance.

Persons wishing to drop off cheques or communicate with the NIS in writing can continue to take advantage of this drop off facility at any time day or night.

NIS Donates to St. Ann’s Infant School - Rose Hill St. Patrick

A Computer and printer were donated to the St. Ann’s Infant School, Rose Hill St. Patrick. The presentation was made on January 17th, 2014. The principal and three of the students expressed their appreciation to the NIS on behalf of the school for consenting to their request. The principal stated that their current computer and printer was out of commission for some time, hence the donation was a great need.
