NIS Insurable Earnings Ceiling (Increase)

The National Insurance (Collection of Contribution) Regulation was amended on October 29, 2010 (SRO 23 of 2010) resulting in increases in the ceiling on which National Insurance contributions are payable effective November 1, 2010, January 1, 2012 and January 1, 2014.

Effective January 1, 2014, the ceiling on which NIS contributions are payable has increased from $4,250.00 to $5,000.00 for monthly paid employees and from $990.00 to $1,160.00 for weekly paid employees.

The contribution rate remains at 9% of total insurable earnings.

It means therefore that an employee who earns $5,000.00 monthly as of January 1, 2014 will now have to contribute $200.00 and the employer $250.00, making the total National Insurance contribution payable $450.00.

We anticipate your usual co-operation as we continue to work towards improving the benefits that we pay to contributors.

Please do not hesitate to call our Public Relations or Customer Service Department should you need any assistance.

NIS Spreads Christmas Cheer

Keeping, what has now become a proud tradition the NIS staff visited 15 homes in Grenada and 1 in Carriacou to donate food hampers, and to interact with the residents during the period December 6th to 19th .

Each year, close to ten thousand dollars worth of food items and toiletries are donated to these Homes, during the Christmas Season.

Some of the visits were made to coincide with the Royal Grenada Police Force Band who also brings musical cheer to the homes annually.

Visits were made to:

the Cadrona Home, GNCD, Charles Memorial Home, Father Mallagan Home for Boys, Hillarion Home, Hills View Home, St Martin’s Home, ECHO, Richmond Home, Bel Air and Queen Elizabeth Homes for children, the Dorothy Hopkin Home, Grand Anse Home, Top Hill Home and Mt Gay Hospital.

We were delighted to bring some Christmas cheer to both the young and the aged.
