Survivors
A
Survivors Pension is paid to a
widow, dependent widower or children of a
deceased insured person who;
·
was in receipt of an Invalidity or
Age pension.
·
would have been deemed an Invalid
or was entitled to receive an Age pension.
If less than one hundred and fifty (150)
contributions are paid, but not less than fifty
(50) then the survivors will be entitled to a
Survivors Grant. Survivors benefit is not
payable where the deceased had received an
Invalidity or Age grant.
Survivors for
women
Women will receive Survivors Benefit for
one year if they are:
·
under the age of fifty (50) when
their husband/spouse dies
·
married to or living with the
deceased for less than three (3) years
·
fifty (50) and over and were
married to or living with the deceased for less
than three (3) years
They will receive the benefit for the
rest of their lives if they:
·
are fifty (50) and over and were
married to or living with the deceased for three
(3) or more years
·
If Invalid until invalidity ceases.
Survivors for children
Children who are sixteen (16) and younger or up
to the eighteenth (18) birthday, if still in
school will qualify for a Survivors Benefit if
they are:
·
maintained by the parent or living
with them at the time of death
·
children includes; children,
adopted children, and step children
Survivors for men
If a woman dies, her husband will only receive a
Survivors Benefit if he is an invalid, was
living with or married to her for three years or
more and was wholly or mainly maintained by her
and is not in receipt of income over the amount
of pension/grant payable.
Important
Notice:
Survivors Benefit will be
discontinued if the widow or widower remarries
or co-habitates. |
