Entitlement
An invalid is any person who is certified by a
doctor to have some bodily or mental
disablement, which is likely to remain
permanent. The invalid will receive a monthly
pension if he/she had at least one hundred and
fifty (150) weekly (3 years) contributions.
Claiming an
Invalidity Benefit
A claim for
Invalidity Benefit is made by submitting an
Invalidity claim form, to any of the N.I.S
offices, containing a medical report from a
doctor. These claim forms are available at any
N.I.S office. It is possible that the National
Insurance will require the claimant to be
examined by another doctor for a second opinion.
An Invalidity Grant is paid if they made less
than one hundred and fifty (150), but at least
fifty weekly contributions.
Rate of
payment of Invalidity Benefit
The Invalidity
Pension is paid at a rate of
thirty (30) percent of the insurable earnings.
If the claimant made more than five hundred 500
weekly contributions (10 years) he/she will
receive an extra percentage for every set of
fifty (50) weekly contributions.
